District 1
District 1 specializes in producing luxury items such as jewelry. Children living there take pride in representing District 1 in the Games, and are often among the group of tributes nicknamed "Careers", who illegally train for the Games from a young age. Katniss calls them "the Capitol's lap dogs" in The Hunger Games book. Once the Games begin, the tributes from the Career-heavy districts (typically Districts 1, 2, and 4) tend to form an alliance until they are forced to fight among themselves to determine the winner. Along with District 2, District 1 is heavily favored by the Capitol and is fairly wealthy compared to the rest of the districts.
Female Tribute - GlimmerGlimmer is the female tribute from District 1. For her entrance in the chariot parade as described in the novel, she was spray-pained silver and wearing a matching silver tunic with Marvel, but in the film she wore a hot pink headdress and a long pink dress alongside Marvel. In her interview in the novel, she wore a see-through golden dress, but in the film it her dress was a frilly, feminine pink knee-length babydoll dress. Glimmer told Caesar Flickerman in the interview that she was "very" prepared. She is a Career Tribute and somewhat knowledgable with a bow-and-arrow. During the Games, Glimmer was among the Careers when Katniss attempted to kill them by dropping a nest of tracker jackers on them as they slept. Glimmer did not escape the attack and died along with the girl from District 4. Glimmer once again appeared in the book as a muttation, which was created by use of her DNA by the Capitol. She is portrayed by Leven Rambin in the film.

Male Tribute - MarvelMarvel is the male tribute from District 1. His name is unknown to Katniss until the Victory Tour in the second book; throughout The Hunger Game she is simply known as "the boy from District 1". He is a Career Tribute and Katniss's third kill. He is the second-tallest tribute, shorter only than Thresh, and is very skilled at spear throwing. When only eight tributes remain, he kills Rue by spearing her in the stomach. In the book, Katniss is shown to have launched an arrow through his throat, causing him to drown in his own blood; in the film Katniss shoots an arrow through his heart in retaliation. Marvel is portrayed by Jack Quaid.
